But, players have been forced to wait as Slightly Mad Studios delayed the game from November 2014 to March 2015 so that they would avoid Ubisoft’s racer The Crew and give their game “the greatest chance of success”. Then in February, Project Cars was delayed again, to April 2015, and although the developer explained to fans that it would allow them to “provide the best game experience that [their] fans deserve”, many were disappointed.

Unfortunately, Slightly Mad Studios has announced another delay to the game. In an official statement, the Head of Slightly Mad Studios, Ian Bell, has said that this delay is just down to final bug testing so that they can fix small things that they didn’t expect:

As a way to show fans “how grateful [they] are,” Slightly Mad Studios will also be releasing some free content. The developer hasn’t provided any information on the gift yet but they say that it’s “going to excite fans” and that it will be available from day one. When Driveclub’s developer Evolution Studios offered up free DLC, many players were glad that their patience had been rewarded so perhaps that’s Slightly Mad Studios’ thinking here.

Again, we want to thank our fans for their support and patience on this matter. There’s a high expectancy from racing fans around the world that Project CARS is going to be an exciting new contender in the simulation racing space and we firmly believe gamers deserve it to be in its most complete and polished state when they come to play it on day one."

Project Cars will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in May, 2015. A release date for the Wii U version of the game has not been announced.
