Performance
Made visual improvements to shadows and enhanced rendering performance. Fixed an issue where the monitor would flicker or become blurry in certain situations. Deployed tentative change on the test server mitigating an issue which causes loot to appear late, mainly after landing from your parachute. Dev Note: As this change increases server load, we will closely monitor any potential negative impact this may have to the player experience. We intend to apply this change to live servers with this update if player feedback is positive and the overall server performance impact is negligible. Any changes to this plan will be communicated through the patch notes. Please try the changes on the test servers for yourself and kindly share your feedback.
Sound
Footstep sounds volume and attenuation have been re-balanced. Footstep sounds will be more drastically reduced when players move to the outer limit of footstep audible range. Sound has been changed appropriately when getting into shallow water like puddles. Added a new song to the jukebox. New song will replace the existing song. Different sound effects are played when landing from falling, dependent to the surface material type. Reduced the volume of straw mats being destroyed. Made improvements to the ledge-grab sound effects. Reduced the volume of the Red Zone. For more information on the sound improvement plans, please go to the following link: “Dev Letter - Sound Improvement Plan”

In short, this latest PUBG console update mostly mirrors the 4.3 update that made its way to PC live servers earlier this month. The main exclusive feature for PS4 and Xbox One, however, is the addition of Crossplay. While players won’t be able to carry their Survivor Pass progress or progression between platforms, they can match up together in lobbies regardless of system. The feature was tested on Public Test Servers last week and worked without much of a problem. For many, then, other features like the DBS, another sound rework and Survival Mastery progression will seem like small additions by comparison. Crossplay should make it much easier to find a match across the board.
On the balance side, there are widespread shotgun buffs and big quality-of-life changes. Finally, players will be able to use healing items while moving, which should make gameplay far more exciting and comparable to some of PUBG’s worthy battle royale competitors. Especially with the new realistic shotgun bullet patterns, it will be interesting to see how the DBS impacts the console meta. The Crossplay revolution has begun, and it’s great to see PUBG join the party. With that in mind, update 4.3 may be the game’s most important patch yet.
PUBG is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and mobile. Update 4.3 is available on all platforms but mobile.
